A POEM A DAY - ANGEL OF THE ETERNAL GOSPEL

I was shocked yesterday to read of the damage done to one of the angel windows at Coventry Cathedral. A pane of the West Screen depicting the Angel of the Eternal Gospel was broken in an attempted burglary and the Cathedral is raising funds to repair the damage or if necessary, replace the pane.  The West Screen at the Cathedral entrance is a magnificent wall of glass designed by John Hutton and engraved with 66 figures of saints and angels. A POEM A DAY - EPIPHANY

Image
Today is a national holiday in Spain where the children take the chance to play with their gifts before back to school tomorrow. Many will be tired and over excited after going to see the Three Kings on the evening of the 5th. In our village the Kings parade with the band from church to the Cooperativa where they sit on their thrones and give presents to all the children, followed by family suppers. Today I take down the green and decorations which have cheered the house since before Christmas. It always seems bare afterwards, waiting for another year.  © 2020 Jacqueline Knight Cotterill.  All rights reserved.

A POEM A DAY - STORM ANGEL

I have had to spend more time than I would like resting, grateful for my third floor view over the valley, the hills and the changing skies. These spectacular clouds at dusk lasted minutes, before the light disappeared and tinges of pink and gold lightened the night sky.   © 2019 Jacqueline Knight Cotterill.  All rights reserved

A POEM A DAY - ANGEL'S WING

This feather caught my eye as it's whiteness shone amongst the dry vegetation. It was spiked on the tall grass stem and appeared to be floating in the air.
