NOW AND THEN - IGUALDAD

This year we support International Women's Day from home, unable to attend demonstrations, events or celebrations. Parcent Town Hall have marked the day by asking for people to create a banner to decorate their house. Mine remembers the strike held on this day in Spain in 2018, when women across the country withdrew their labour and hundreds of thousands marched across cities in a cry for our rights.  In the village we showed our support for the day of action by tying aprons to our balconies. Sadly there remains much to be done in the fight for equality and we need to remember everyday that women across the world still suffer discrimination in the home, at work, with pay and in society. Today we also honour all those who have given their time and energy to campaign for our rights.

The original poem in English is on the link below.
